A World Bank report stated that Africa’s agribusiness could be worth $1 trillion by 2030. Ecosystem Capital considers agribusiness as a life changer for the continent.
More so than in other continents, Africa is dominated by family farming, which relies mainly on family labour. Africa has 33 million farms of less than 2 hectares, accounting for 80% of all farms.
The job creation element linked to this sector requires innovation to develop. If one tries to grow wheat, corn, fruits, etc without connecting to the agro-local and global value chains, then there is very little opportunity for job creation.
Our goal is to link farmers to big markets and using Innovation as a key performance changer in Africa. We aim to address the ecosystem of agriculture in Africa and if structured correctly, we believe that African agriculture can connect to the global value chain and will become a major source of supply.
